Alaskan Frontiers: Innovating Affordable Healthcare In Remote and Extreme Environments

Fairbanks & Nome, Alaska

Join us for a journey to rural Alaska to explore the innovative solutions required to provide affordable healthcare in remote and extreme environments. In our winter quarter class and subsequent spring break trip, we will learn about Alaska’s unique healthcare challenges, explore the innovative solutions being implemented, engage with the local organizations that improve healthcare access, discuss public health policies, and gain hands-on experiences with service projects. Is Alaska's model of healthcare a valuable lesson for other extreme environments?

Hey everyone, I’m Jason, and a current senior studying Biochemistry. On this trip, I am hoping to introduce a complex field of health equity in rural and remote areas to a diverse group of students. So excited to learn and bond with everyone.

Hi! I’m Artemis, a senior studying biology. I’m very excited to explore a different healthcare system than the one I grew up in in NZ. I also want to learn about the innovative ways providers can overcome a lack of resources and an extreme remote climate.
