Miami Disaster Management & Response: Strengthening Community Safety
Miami, FL
With each coming year, climate change leads to more and more disasters wreaking havoc on communities around the world. Miami, Florida is at the forefront of these catastrophes. Over the next 30 years, 36,355 properties in Miami are at risk of flooding. Through this course and trip, we will engage in compassion and relief as we learn about the struggles vulnerable communities face and develop skills for disaster preparedness. Our spring break trip will explore the rich Miami culture that is deeply tied to its immigrant resilience, climate justice, and a tradition of mutual aid in the face of hurricanes.
