Designed to Conceive

Boston, MA

Some bodies were never studied. Some pain was never believed. Some futures were never planned. For decades, reproductive health was sidelined. Clinical trials excluded people with ovaries. Birth control became a blunt instrument for symptoms no one investigated. Pregnancy was treated as a brief medical episode, not a complex physiological arc. And postpartum care? Often ends after a single six-week check-in.

Designed to Conceive is a week-long exploration of how reproductive care is finally being reimagined. We’ll spend spring break in Boston—the heart of biotech and medical innovation—speaking with scientists uncovering what medicine still doesn’t understand, founders trying to commercialize better care, and clinicians deciding what actually reaches patients.

This trip asks questions like: Why is “normal” pain still a diagnosis? Why does birth still happen in a room designed for surgery? What would happen if postpartum care got a Series A? Why is egg freezing a benefit, but not childcare? Could you design a baby for a climate-resilient future?

And because innovation in reproductive care can’t stop at theory, we’ll roll up our sleeves alongside Boston’s nonprofits, doulas, and community health groups—supporting families, expanding access, and pairing inquiry with service.

Aditi Prakash

Hi, I’m Aditi, a pre-med senior studying SymSys! Reproductive health is my passion, and I can’t wait to share it with you all! I was a CA for the Demystifying Pregnancy Introsem last year, and I spent this summer doing mitochondrial DNA research (very applicable in the OBGYN world!). I want to build a future where reproductive care is compassionate, accessible, and the science is constantly improving. I’m so excited to spend spring break in Boston learning alongside you, serving the community, and imagining what the future could look like together!

Hey what’s up y’all! I’m Anjali — a super senior studying Design & Data Science. Back in high school I started a menstrual equity nonprofit, then took a gap year to build a women’s-focused job platform in India helping women rejoin the workforce. These days I’m deep into radical reproductive futures and the big “should we really be doing this?” ethical questions. Super excited to spend spring break in Boston serving in the community, learning together, and bringing the energy with all of you!
