Rural and Urban Homelessness in Georgia

Atlanta, Georgia

Join us to understand the experience of homeless individuals and homeless service providers in urban and rural Georgia. We will visit urban centers Atlanta and Savannah, and surrounding rural areas like Pin Point, Georgia, working with local government and nonprofit organizations to support homeless individuals. This trip is for you if you’re interested in understanding:

  • Rural-urban disparities in poverty and homelessness

  • Causes and consequences of homelessness in Georgia, and the U.S. south more broadly

  • Lived experiences of homeless individuals and service providers

Hi, I’m Aanya, a coterm studying EE. I’m a big believer in service learning, so I’m excited to lead a trip on rural-urban homelessness in Georgia and get to know all of you!

Victoria Yan

Hi, I’m Victoria, a senior pursuing a BA in economics and MS in statistics. My honors thesis studied the impact of homeless funding on homeless healthcare utilization and mortality, and I’m excited to co-lead a trip to understand rural-urban homelessness in Georgia.
